While baby teeth are meant to fall out, permanent teeth won’t be replaced in the same way. As soon as a tooth falls out or is removed, the bone tissue inside of the jaw will begin to break down. This leaves the jaw weaker, making it more difficult to chew the foods you enjoy. Tooth loss also causes existing teeth to shift out of place, making your smile and bite uneven. Furthermore, with every tooth you lose, your risk for future tooth loss goes up.
If you are missing one to two teeth, a dental bridge can be created to rebuild your smile and fill any and all gaps. After completing a detailed exam of your mouth, we’ll capture an impression so it can be used to design a model of your future bridge. Bridges consist of a series of crowns that are fused together, with the crowns on either end being hollowed out so they can be attached to teeth adjacent to the gap in your smile.
Just because you have several missing teeth on opposite sides of your mouth (or in your entire arch) does not mean that you need to settle. With full and partial dentures, you can smile with confidence and eat many of the foods you used to enjoy. Each denture is made with your overall mouth shape in mind, so you can get adjusted to your new smile quickly. We always use materials designed to blend in with your mouth’s current oral structures, so no one but you and Dr. Hung are the wiser.
If you wish you could replace your teeth and not have to worry about replacing them for decades, you will find dental implants to be life-changing. Dental implants are designed to replace the root as well as the tooth. Many people do not realize that the root is incredibly important to restoring your tooth’s basic functions, and dental implants are the only tooth replacement method out there that accomplishes this. Whether you’re replacing one tooth or several, they can offer a long-term solution.
